I have to admit, I haven’t tried and tested every drink recipe I have posted on “Thirsty Thursday“.  I know, shame on me…..but the ones I post do sound and look amazing and I have probably made half of them. This Perfect Mai Tai, however, I can personally attest to the fact that I made this, sampled this, loved this and became addicted to this. Well, maybe that’s a little far-fetched but oh man!!!! This is by far the BEST Mai Tai I have ever had in my life!!

My husband and I (along with another couple) recently hosted a Murder Dinner at our home. No, we didn’t actually murder someone. This is one of those fun games where you invite people, assign characters to each, host a dinner and play the game. The object is to solve who among you is the murderer. It is so much fun! The theme of our game/dinner was a Hawaiian Luau.  The game comes complete with recipes for food and drink but the included Mai Tai recipe sounded so-so. I searched for a better one and my good friend, Pinterest, never lets me down.  I tweaked the recipe a tiny bit to my own liking and the final result – nothing short of phenomenal!!

On a future blog I will have to share the pork recipe that was included with our murder dinner(another fabulous recipe) but this Perfect Mai Tai will tide you over until then…

The Perfect Mai Tai

2 cups light rum

2 cups Captain Morgan rum

1 cup Malibu rum

1 cup orange curacao

1 cup almond syrup (we used Torani brand, found at Cost Plus)

12 oz. coconut water

10 limes, juiced

1/2 gallon orange juice

Mix all ingredients in a large drink dispenser.  Give a good stir. The longer the mix sits, the better it tastes. I mixed ours at 2 pm and the party started at 6:30 pm. It was AWESOME!!

Seriously, I can’t explain just how delicious this drink is! Make a big container and invite over a bunch of friends for an unforgettable pool party!   Get yourself a perfect pool raft, like our Kickback Double Adjustable kickback double lounger

      r–e–l–a–x!!!
