This product is made of plastic and there are all kinds of rules for maintaining this product stating that it is durable and requires a certain amount of care to keep it from cracking in hot or cold weather or being in water for lengthy periods of time. It is most likely unstable in the water because of it's hollow-core. Also, the fact that it folds over, you can get your fingers stuck in between. We are returning ours because we don't believe there was sufficient information on this product when buying it and pinched fingers coming out of the box and a shipping cost for returns from this company charges.
